Is it wrong to travel so that one can write about it? I have received comments from several persons who have complained that I tend to focus on those travel destinations that help me write interesting blog posts. Well, I do not deny that my travelling is done primarily to help me add value to my blogs. However, those who have read my work will confirm that this is not just about writing blogs alone.

Had that been the case, I could have easily used the content already available on the web to come up with decent content. I am certainly good enough to write about Auberge de Jeunesse Paris without actually visiting the place. However, I also like to travel and am not interested in just sitting in one place and punching letters on the keyboard.

Well, these comments have made me think about the real purpose behind travelling. Why should we travel? Should we do so only to satisfy our wanderlust? There are many persons who travel to different cities and then spend time doing window shopping in the malls. What is the fun in adopting such an approach? What is the sense in this doing so? If you are travelling to a city, then you should check out its attractions and special destinations. What is to be gained by doing window shopping in malls that look the same and stock the same stuff all over the world?

My travel experiences have taught me that enjoying new destinations is not as easy as it sounds. I once reached a spot that was very hot and humid. My research had not indicated such a problem. I was just not ready for the heat and the sticky feeling that one gets when it is very humid outside. I learned from the locals that frequent showers would bring down the temperature to manageable levels. However, these showers had not taken place and this was the reason why the city was so hot and humid.

Well, spending the entire day in the room and enjoying the air conditioned surroundings is always an option. However, that is not how a real traveller works. A real traveller will not hesitate to step out even if the surroundings are not very pleasant. How many people show so much commitment when travelling to new places? It is easy to criticize others who move around. However, it is difficult to find persons who are ready to tough it out when travelling.

Have you ever felt very smart and intelligent after using a data recovery London software application properly? People often feel smug when they extract information that was supposed to have been deleted. However, my experiences and travels have taught me that recovering stuff in the virtual world is a lot easier than manipulating stuff in the real world. Have you ever tried to light a fire without using matchsticks? Well, you will be surprised how quickly you do all that is necessary to light a fire when you are stranded in the middle of nowhere in the middle of night without a light in hand.

My friends often criticize me for being so foolish and taking so many risks. Well, the risks are always present in our lives. What is the guarantee that a chunk from the ceiling will not fall down on your head even as you are reading this? There is no such guarantee. This is what the world will teach you. It is a dog eat dog world and you will have to do all that is necessary to stay secure. However, that is not in you can behave like a coward and stay away from the real world.

The best option is to enter it and try to dominate it. You will be surprised how animals ran from me when I had a burning log in my hand. They probably did not mean to harm me in the first case but the fire made sure that I was completely safe. Of course, I was not in real danger and purchased three of four hours from civilization. However, you will understand the implication of distances when you do not have a vehicle that will take you over long distances in a jiffy. This is what I have learned from all my travel experiences that life cannot be lived by simply dreaming and planning. It is to be lived by doing.

Whenever a traveler hits a new location and simply cannot understand why they have never been before, it could be that they simply have missed out by chance, or perhaps it is that the locals and loyal visitors simply wish to keep it a secret. This is exactly the feeling thousands have all year round when first laying eyes on Poland’s Zakopane, but it has to be said that the latter reason really does not apply.

People have been flocking here for recreational reasons for decades and the annual average is now around the three million mark – so why Zakopane?

Well, the region could be described as something of a cross-section of Polish history and folklore, where such is the richness of culture that the true Highlanders and mountain-folk actually speak their own language, unique to anywhere else in the world. In the summertime, the hills are alive with the sounds of ramblers, hiker, hang-gliders, bungee jumper and those silenced by the awe-inspiring scenery.

When winter rolls around, the world ski-jumping championships roll into town, while the peaks become a Mecca for skiers and snowboarders from all across the world, with some of the finest runs to be found anywhere in Europe.

The town itself is nothing less than a picture postcard in every direction, with stunning traditional wooden buildings, lodges and restaurants that quite simply redefine the word ‘cozy.'The snow is deep, the air biting and the atmosphere thick with the aroma of wood burning fires, hot mulled wine and a buzz that is simply impossible to ignore.

In short, those who are looking for a place to get away from high-pressure UK teaching jobs and really get back to nature in the summer (while avoiding the odd bear here and there of course!) Zakopane is on par with anywhere else in the world. On the other hand, add a touch of snow and an indescribably air of winter magic and there truly is nowhere that can compare with this majestic and not so hidden gem of Central Europe.

When most think of Ireland, the immediate locations that spring to mind are of course Dublin, Cork and maybe to a lesser extent Galway. However, while such towns and cities have their own exquisite charms, those looking for a taste of the real Ireland may do well consider a few alternatives. If the idea of taking a step back in time and experiencing a living postcard, County Clare holds more treasures than the proverbial stick can be shaken at.

Beginning with the true home and heart of Irish music, Doolin is village of essentially a single narrow road, a scattering of residences and three or four local pubs. There is simply no place on earth more perfect to see an achingly wonderful stereotype brought to life, as each place bursts into life every night with the best music, laughter and ‘craic'to be found anywhere in the country which is nothing less than spellbinding.

Moving a little further south is Lahinch, where Ireland meets the Atlantic in the most spectacular though charmingly quaint of fashion. This is your typical British-esque seaside resort where nothing has been lost for hundreds of years. On the journey from Doolin, take in the Cliffs of Moher, Europe’s highest for one of the best displays of the power of nature in the world today.

Lastly, no trip here would be complete without a wander around the Burren coastline, where landscapes more akin to far off planets regularly show the hybrid cars UK travellers bring over exactly why the tractor reigns supreme on the Emerald Isle! Brave the terrain and the reward is a truly unique and awe-inspiring ancient landscape.

So where to next you ask? Well if you are into wildlife, beautiful scenery, lovely beaches and experiencing a slice of untouched local culture then Spain is the place for you; Northern Spain to be precise. Galicia is a treasure trove of beauty which is largely undiscovered by mass tourism. It is a different world from the tourist ridden southern coast which has become overrun with sun seekers. The north has some of the best beaches in Europe, and there are plenty of things do experience whilst you stay. I really had no idea that Spain had such a vast array of mountain valleys with beautiful gorges, damns, and canyons. I always imagined it as the beach holiday hotspot of the Costa del Sol. There are secluded waterfalls set into the mountainside, hidden beaches by the vast and picturesque rivers, and great views around every corner. If you have had enough of the same old corporate hotels then there are a whole host of beautiful little villas in every village. If you are looking for something even more interesting and relaxing to stay in then you could look at Mino Valley Retreats. Here you can stay an either a traditional Mongolian Yurt or a Tipi. I only managed to find out about this area as I saw vinyl stickers advertising it on a car in front of me on my way to the airport last month. How glad I am now that I wrote the name down and looked into it.

So before you dismiss Spain as your next port of call, look into what you might be missing out on in Galicia. Flights go into Santiago de Compostelo, Vigo, and A Coruna, and from here, a car hire is the best way to get out and explore.

We were checking out dance fabrics when my friend asked me if I had ever vacationed in Argentina and visited the Iguazu Falls. I had, and here is some of what I shared with her.

Hailed as one of the world’s most amazing places, the Iguazu Falls in Argentina are truly a dazzling sight. The falls, which are among the world’s most wondrous, are located in northeast Argentina.

The word “Iguazu mean “big water” in the local language, and indeed the falls are big and watery. The tallest waterfall is almost 300 feet high – that’s as tall as a 24-story building!

The Iguazu Falls are actually comprised of 275 separate waterfalls that span a stretch of three kilometers of river. One third of the falls are officially outside of Argentina in Brazil.

If you plan on visiting, be sure to view the falls on the various walkways and trails. A tour (either by boat or jeep) will offer a different perspective of these stunning waterfalls. If you wish to see them by helicopter, you will need to go to the Brazil side. The consensus, though, is that the best views are from Argentina.

You can get to Puerto Iguazu, which is mere miles from the waterfalls, by direct flight from Buenos Aires. May is considered the best time to visit, since it is less crowded and warmer. If you want to see the falls when they are at their strongest, though, the rainy season, from December to February, is best. <

The price turned out to be just about the same. Now with that over I paid a visit to the Orava castle and I was impressed.

The Orava Castle was built on a high rock beside the Orava River and is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful castles anyone will encounter in Slovakia.

Build in the 13th century this castle stands as the bold testament of centuries old revolutions. After severe damage, the Orava Castle was restored significantly by Joseph Palffy. The restoration significantly helped in re-establishing the beauty and glory of the castle. The castle is located near the village of Oravsky Podzamok and it is surrounded by beautiful wooden forts and was built in the year 1241 following the Tartar invasion.

The castle has three entrance gates which connect to a tunnel leading up to the dungeon. A museum in itself, the castle has an extensive collection of medieval furniture and artifacts from the Renaissance Era.

The Castle is a whopping 112 meters above the Orava River, but is quite convenient for tourists to visit and the visitors are required to buy tickets before entering. The ticket office is located below the castle and costs 4.5 Euros for adults, while children below the age of six can enter for free. Disabled and pensioners have to pay 2.5 Euros, while visitors intending to use a camera have to pay an additional 1.5 Euro.

It is amazing to me that we live in a country and do not get to see what tourist see when they visit. As I am travelling a friend of mine suggest that I go see some of the over 600 castles in Wales. I never thought of this before and just envisioning what it would be like was enough for me to go. Thinking of times past, the knights, the court jester, men and women in dance fabrics prancing around, and the ruggedness of it all. So I went to see a number of castles. Here are a few that impressed me.
Pembroke Castle
Located in southern Wales this castle has stood for over 917 years and dates back to the time of the Norman invasion. It was a fortification and was fitted with, a tea room, a prison, and the nice stained windows. This is where the first Tudor king, Henry VII was born and is an impressive site to behold and explore.

Caernarfon Castle

Arguably the Wales’ most impressive castle and can be found near the centre of Anglesey and North Wales on the Menai Strait. This castles was built in 1090 and formed a part of Edward I power ring in the region. The first designation of Prince of Wales was bestowed on Edward the first English Prince with that title, at this castle.
Conwy Castle
This castle will blow you away because it is as impressive as it is massive. In 1287 King Edward 1 had this castle build to subdue any would be rebellion. The towers are so high and one good thing is that you can walk through it. Fantastic.

The capital of the country, Helsinki, is one of them. The city is full of tourist sites and it also offers great activities that you can engage in during your stay in the city. The city of Helsinki is located in the Southern part of the Finland. It is present on the coast of the Gulf of Finland and is very near to the Baltic Sea. It is epitheted as the Daughter of the Baltic.

The city underwent renovation at a large scale in 1818 to make it resemble St. Petersburg. This was a step taken by one of the Tsars of Russia. Helsinki has changed a lot in its overall look and feel since then. Today it exudes the charm of a modern international city and also maintains the nostalgia of the historic times. It has all the modern amenities that are going to make your stay in the city very comfortable. The city celebrates many festival that you can see and enjoy if you time your trip accordingly.

It is a good idea to visit to Helsinki in the last week of June. This will enable you to see the celebration of Midsummer Festival which is also known by the name of Juhannus. The Vappu Festival o the Walpurgis Night is another significant festival that is celebrated between April 30th to May 1st.

Besides this, the city has good shops that you can visit to shop to your heart’s content. There are good restaurants that serve great food and drinks. Helsinki has many cheap accommodations that you can find by looking for them over the internet. You can get cheap flights to Helsinki in the winter month. The city celebrates some great winter festivals at this time too. Always take buses or ferries to go around the city to make you trip cost–effective. You could also rent a caravan and drive across the city and countryside, however in that case do invest in a good caravan insurance policy first.

If somebody says the word “loch” aloud, what does it make you think of? Does it conjure images of spies, hacks and criminals lurking the underworld in Humphrey Bogart raincoats, breaking safes with indecipherable combinations and arcane lock picking techniques? Do you think of a lock of hair, perhaps Alexander Pope’s satirical poem The Rape of the Lock (which has ambiguities of its own)? Or does the word make you crave a journey to Scotland, with its rugged geography, gourmet food and horrendous weather? If you answered ‘yes’ to the last question, then I suggest you get the first flight to Inverness from Gatwick airport and start enjoying Scotland at its finest. Upon landing in Inverness, you may be struck by the size of the town. Arguably the capital of the enormous Scottish Highlands, this small settlement boats a hospital and several fish and chip shops. I would recommend the battered haggis, although it is also worth trying the two black pudding variants – white pudding and red pudding. Leave Inverness and visit the country’s largest loch, Loch Ness, and try to spot Nessie for yourself. You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain. With return flights starting from around fifty quid, you could be there in no time. Picture yourself tomorrow, haggis in one hand, thermos in the other, trying to spot the arching back of an ancient monster in the depths of Loch Ness. You’ll probably need more than a wee dram of whisky in that Thermos, given the likely weather, but still.
