The Iguazu Falls Argentina
We were checking out dance fabrics when my friend asked me if I had ever vacationed in Argentina and visited the Iguazu Falls. I had, and here is some of what I shared with her.
Hailed as one of the world’s most amazing places, the Iguazu Falls in Argentina are truly a dazzling sight. The falls, which are among the world’s most wondrous, are located in northeast Argentina.
The word “Iguazu mean “big water” in the local language, and indeed the falls are big and watery. The tallest waterfall is almost 300 feet high – that’s as tall as a 24-story building!
The Iguazu Falls are actually comprised of 275 separate waterfalls that span a stretch of three kilometers of river. One third of the falls are officially outside of Argentina in Brazil.
If you plan on visiting, be sure to view the falls on the various walkways and trails. A tour (either by boat or jeep) will offer a different perspective of these stunning waterfalls. If you wish to see them by helicopter, you will need to go to the Brazil side. The consensus, though, is that the best views are from Argentina.
You can get to Puerto Iguazu, which is mere miles from the waterfalls, by direct flight from Buenos Aires. May is considered the best time to visit, since it is less crowded and warmer. If you want to see the falls when they are at their strongest, though, the rainy season, from December to February, is best. <
